The biographical sketches published here are those which were current at the time this recording was made in December, 1988.

DAVID HIGGS has distinguished himself as a prize-winner in several contests and plays many recitals each year throughout the United States. He was a featured recitalist for the 1987 International Congress of Organists in Cambridge, England and the 1988 National Convention of the American Guild of Organists in Houston, Texas. A native New Yorker, he earned the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and holds the Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. His teachers have included Claire Coci, Peter Hurford, Russell Saunders and Frederick Swann.

HARRY HUFF is organist at Calvary Church, New York City and is Artist-in-Residence at Union Theological Seminary. A native of Tennessee, he holds degrees from the North Carolina School of the Arts and Yale University.
Mr. Huff has held positions at St. Bartholomew’s Church, St. George’s Church and The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, all in New York City.

A recipient of many national honors, he has been heard in concert throughout the United States. From 1979 to 1984, Harry Huff was assistant to the late Calvin Hampton. He was soloist for two Hampton premieres in New York, namely in the Concerto for Organ and Strings (with the composer conducting) in 1980 and in the Alexander Variations for two organs (with David Higgs) in 1984. His own compositions include service music for the Anglican church and choral works. His multi-media work Wind and Fire, commissioned by St. Bartholomew’s Church, was broadcast nationally by CBS Television on Pentecost Sunday 1979. Mr. Huff has been a guest artist at both the Aspen and Mostly Mozart Festivals.

Harry Huff recently joined with soprano saxophonist Anders Paulsson to present concerts of jazz, classical, folk and spiritual music. The Paulsson & Huff Duo’s recording, In a Sentimental Mood, including music of Duke Ellington, was released in 1989 by LCM Records in Stockholm. The Duo tours under the auspices of Phillip Truckenbrod Concert Artists.
