The American Record Guide A somewhat similar recording was done in 1981 at Notre-Dame (FY 95), where the choir sang the chants and Cochereau improvised. It is rare to hear a new recording that is as technically and musically satisfying as one. Williams makes the organ sound much larger. His performances are musically sound and correctly paced and registered. Applegate’s men supply a perfectly homogeneous sound in very reverberant surroundings. Both choirt and soloists tastefully taper off their voices at the end of phrases. The organ selections are wisely chosen. I can’t praise this recording enough. – Metz, Jan / Feb 2010
