A past finalist in both the University of Michigan International Organ Competition and the Concours d’Orgue de la Ville de Biarritz in France, André Lash possesses extensive experience with rarely performed organ works of the Spanish Baroque and with original works for organ and cello, in addition to the standard organ solo repertoire. He is currently organist and director of instrumental activities at Christ United Methodist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. Lash holds the degree Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ Performance from the Eastman School of Music, where his teacher was the late Russell Saunders. Other noted teachers have included Arthur Poister in the United States and José-Luis Gonzalez Uriol in Spain, for which study he received a Regional Artist’s grant in 1999 from the Arts and Sciences Council of Charlotte/Mecklenburg (North Carolina). A native of the state of Kansas, his undergraduate degree was from Pittsburg (KS) State University, and he holds the Master of Music in Church Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Before arriving in Greensboro, Lash had held positions at the University of Georgia as teaching faculty in Music Theory and as a staff accompanist, and in Music Theory, Organ and Harpsichord at Oklahoma Baptist University and at Brewton-Parker College. He has performed at solo venues in the United States and the Republic of Korea, has performed and presented sessions for the American Guild of Organists and Music Teachers National Association, and has served as a local and regional officer of the American Guild of Organists (AGO).
