Harry Wilkinson

This biographical sketch was current as of the date of the original release of this recording in 1993. Harry Wilkinson is Professor Emeritus, West Chester University of Pennsylvania, theory and organ. He chaired the Theory – Composition Dept. for nearly ten years. He holds the Ph.D. – theory – Eastman School of Music, and is a Fellow of the American Guild of Organists. He chaired the A.G.O. Nationall Examination Committee (as then titled), 1973-1980; was program chair for the 1964 A.G.O. National Convention (Philadelphia), and the 1977 International Congress of Organists. For years he was organist-choirmaster of the Church of the St. Martin-in-the-Fields; and now plays at Old St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Philadelphia. He has given recitals in Paris – St-Denis, Notre-Dame, Sacre-Coeur- , England – York Minster and parish churches – , and eastern U.S. He has studied with Harold Gleason, David Craighead, Ernest White, and Harry C. Banks.
