John Cummins

In 2006, John Cummins was appointed the Minister of Music and Organist and Director of the Abendmusik: Lincoln Fine Arts Series at First-Plymouth United Church of Christ in Lincoln, Nebraska. He holds degrees in Organ Performance and Literature from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, and the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. His primary teachers have been Peter Fyfe, the late J. Warren Hutton, and David Craighead.

Dr. Cummins is active an an organ recitalist. He has concertized throughout the United States, and has been featured in recitals at national conventions of the Organ Historical Society. “Bravo Dolce” is his debut commercial CD as an organ soloist.

John Cummins is a native of Kentucky. His success as a choral trainer and conductor, working in the tradition and method of the Royal School of Church Music, is documented in two
well-received Pro Organo CDs, recorded in 1999 and 2000, entitled “Our Heart’s Desire” and “Wolcum Yole,” which featured the men and boys choir, and the girls choir of Christ Church Cathedral (Episcopal), Lexington.
