Christmas Traveler
(Audio CD)
Dorothy Papadakos

This CD combines recordings of the Great Organ at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine with studio-produced tracks, spanning a variety of cultures and traditions from around the world, from Celtic to Chinese, in celebration of Christmas, and of other major holidays of the season, including Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.  The featured opening work is Dorothy Papadakos’ Jazz Concerto for Orchestra, Choir, Trumpet and Baritone Soloist, entitled Christmas Traveler, where we hear jazz trumpeter Jimmy Owens in a featured cameo role.  The Cathedral’s Great Organ is heard in Papadakos’ arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite.
