Methuen Century
(Audio CD plus DVD)
Frederick Hohman

In this double-disc set (audio CD plus DVD video disc), we are given the history of the organ at Methuen Memorial Music Hall, the first concert hall pipe organ in the United States [1863] by organist Frederick Hohman, as well as a thorough tour covering all of the pipework and inner workings of the organ, by Andover Organ Company organ technician Matthew Bellocchio. The main program (67 minutes) contains performance segments from Frederick Hohman’s September 2008 visit to Methuen, including music taped live in concert as well as in closed recording sessions. The Extras section of the DVD contains 17 minutes of performance segments from Frederick Hohman’s September 1996 Methuen recital, as well as the complete, current organ specificiation, displayed through a series of interactive linked menus. The CD audio disc is a remastered version of Frederick Hohman’s 1995 audio CD, originally released as Pro Organo CD 7066 “Forever Methuen,” and includes one additional track not found on the original release of the CD. A 16-page booklet is packaged with both discs in a slim-line double disc case.
