Canadian-born Juilliard-trained organist Isabelle Demers performs a lively and varied program upon the new 3 manual organ at St. Patrick’s Church, New Orleans, Louisiana, built by Philadelphia-area firm Patrick J. Murphy & Associates, Inc.  The program contains original works by Max Reger as well as a Reger transcription of Bach’s Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue.  Works by Canadian organists Amadée Tremblay and Raymond Daveluy round out this eclectic program.

Isabelle Demers is Organ Professor and Head of the Organ Program at Baylor University in Texas, where she teaches organ and courses in the organ curriculum. A native of Québec, she is rapidly becoming recognized as one of North America’s most virtuosic of organists. She began piano and organ study at age eleven at the Montréal Conservatory of Music. After graduation in 2003 she studied on scholarship for a year in Paris at the École Normale de Paris-Alfred Cortot. She received her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from The Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied with Paul Jacobs. Her dissertation – an analysis of Bach’s St. John Passion – was awarded the Richard French Prize for best dissertation at commencement. Her concerts at the 2010 national convention of the American Guild of Organists, in Washington, D.C., and at the joint convention of the ISO-AIO (International Society of Organbuilders and American Institute of Organbuilders) in Montréal were received with overwhelming and great acclaim by both audiences and critics. She also appeared as a featured performed in the 2008 national convention of the American Guild of Organists in Minneapolis, as well as at the 2009 national convention of the Royal Canadian College of Organists in Toronto. She continued to tour widely in 2012, with appearances at Davies Hall (San Francisco) and Disney Hall (Los Angeles) in addition to a 14-concert summer tour of England and Germany.
