Variations on Kirken – music score and CD package

Completed in September, 2011, this composition for organ solo is the most substantive solo work from the composer to date. It is written in recognition of more than 50 years of service by Rev. Arthur C. Sziemeister to the parish of First Lutheran Church of Lyons, New York. Moderate to advanced difficulty. Introduction and variations, plus some connecting interludes. The work is a ”dual variations” form, and intertwines variations on the hymn-tune Kirken with free improvisations and variations based on incipits from the Communion Service as found in the 1950s-era Lutheran Service Book and Hymnal.
