Fantasia on the names of Ruth and Clarence Mader – Printed Music Score

This printed music score from Zarex Scores is a virtuosic original organ composition by Frederick Hohman, completed on June 21 2021.  It bears the dedicatory inscription:  To the memory of Ruth and Clarence Mader.

Frederick Hohman composed the organ work FANTASIA ON THE NAMES OF RUTH AND CLARENCE MADER  as a non-winning entry in the 2021 Composition Competition, sponsored by the Ruth and Clarence Mader Scholarship Fund.  The work is based upon two themes, with musical notes assigned to the following sequences of letters:  “R C M” and “R C M A D E R.”

Frederick Hohman was the First Prize Winner in the Eighth National Organ-Playing Competition, which was sponsored in 1984 by the Ruth and Clarence Mader Scholarship Fund.  This work, written more than 30 years following the occasion of the Eighth National Mader Organ-Playing Competition, is written and published as the composer’s thankful tribute for the career support that the Mader Scholarship Fund brought to the organist-composer, at a critical point in his early career.

A computerized rendering of the complete work, rendered slightly under actual tempo, and using the digital audio sample set of the Casavant organ at the University of California at Irvine, is found in the audio sample area of this product page.

The work has a performance duration of 10 minutes.  It a virtuoso piece intended for moderately advanced to advanced players.  The score presumes performance upon a large instrument of 4-manuals and pedal; however, it can be adapted easily for performance on a 3 or 2-manual instrment.

Music Score page format is 8.5″ x 11″,
20 pages plus 4-page cover.
